Here are the results from the 10/22/2011 Operation Octagon XVI fights. Full article coming soon. Pictures are up at MMA FIGHT PICS!

The last week in July brought record-breaking high temperatures to the Washington, DC area, and on July 30, 2011, the heat was just as intense inside the Dulles Sportsplex (Sterling, VA) as fight fans gathered for Operation Octagon XV.  The fight card promised an intense evening with 16 amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) fights, 6 of which were title fights. Over 20 teams from four states and the District came prepared to claim the octagon as theirs, including “first timers” such as Beta Academy.

The main and co-main event featured fighters from Vanguard Gym of Manassas, VA. Vanguard has a reputation for dominating Operation Octagon, as their fighters won 4 of 4 back in March, including the main event Lightweight Title fight where Mike “Popezilla” Pope (Vanguard Gym) successfully defended his title.  For Operation Octagon XV, Pope was on the card to defend his title again as his teammate Duy “Deep Water” Le took center stage in the main event Featherweight Title fight.

This upcoming January 22nd, Onslaught Fights will have a special guest referee for the night. Come out and meet Dan Miragliotta !!! You may recognize him from being a referee for promotions such as : UFC, Strikeforce, WEC and more! Dan Miragliotta and Todd Mcgovern will be the referee's for the night! This show will only pull fighters from the top schools / institutes on the east coast.

There will be 3 Title fights that night. Ravon "The Charm City Bad Boy" Dixon will be defending his title at 155 against Eric Moore, Chris Frazier will be going against Brad Desir for the 170lb title, and the 135lb title will be up for grabs between Mike Serrano and Dre Howes!

On Saturday, Dec 18, 2010, East Coast Combat Club brought "Absolute Annihilation" to the Prince William County Fairgrounds. Seventeen MMA fights kept the building rocking until well after midnight. The night featured three title matches, awarding belts to  Jessie Mitchell Jr, Chris Fraizer, and Rex Harris. More highlights of the night included Latoya Rykard winning the only women's match for the evening, and John Delbrugge and Micah Terrill scoring back to back knock out victories. More than half the fighters had 0-0 records coming into the night, which resulted in a few uneven matches, but overall it was an exciting night of MMA action in the cage.  I always look forward to the lower weight classes, and Blake Huff and Sebastian Davis represented the flyweights in spectacular fashion.
