Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix at Patriot Center

Its official, the Shine Fight Grand Prix Lightweight MMA Tournament will be held at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. Over the last couple weeks there were speculations and reports that the Shine Fights was seeking to put on an event pending approval by the notorious Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The Patriot center has listed the event on their schedule(http://www.patriotcenter.com/events/index.php?opts=detail&eid=3467&evtype=patriotspecial) and tickets can now be purchased from ticketmaster.com. Shine Fights Possibly Coming to Fairfax

Various sources have reported MMA promotion Shine Fights is planning on bringing their promotion to the Patriot Center. According to fiveouncesofpain.com the promotion is currently seeking approval to run a one night lightweight tournament. Approval for the event is expected to go through. Again, the event would be a one night lightweight tournament, with the winner receiving $50,000. Lightweights being considered for the tournament are:

- Guillaume DeLorenzi
- Josh Shockley
- Marcus Aurelio
- James Warfield
- Richard Crunkilton
- Charles Bennett
- Carlo Prater
- Drew Fickett

Shine Fights last tried to run a PPV on May 15th, which was to be headlined by Din Thomas vs. boxer Ricardo Mayorga. Due to contract issues with Don King, Mayorga was pulled from the event, which led to the North Carolina Athletic Commission shutting the show down, due financial concerns. Chute Boxe Head Augusto Oliveira recently stated that some of his fighters have not been paid for that event.

Capital MMA's in house Tourney

Capital MMA 7 Elite Fitness in house tournament Saturday was a busy day at Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Dulles, Va. Starting at noon, the no gi tournament got under way and was pretty exciting. I wish that I knew about jui-jitsu when I was a kid. That is ok though, I have 2 kids now and I know they are going to love it. Yes, I will be taking my kids to Capital as soon as they know how to talk.

Things started off by Jeremy thanking everyone for coming and giving last minute instructions and rules to everyone.

R.I.E - American Cage Warriors Results

Throughthecage.com was present at R.I.E(Respect Is Earned): American Cage Warrior on July 30^th 2010 at the Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling, Virginia. My partners and I have never been to an R.I.E, because they’ve never brought fights to the DC Metropolitan area, but some of the bigger name fighters such as Jesse Rigglemen, Antwain Britt, Tyrone Woodley, and Freddy Assuncao brother of Raphael Assuncao have fought on the card to name a few.

Tracy Lee I found an interesting article on BleacherReport that has the 50 hottest women in mma. I must agree there are some good looking women on this list. There are also some women on this list that could kick my ass so I will refrain from calling any of them out, but I just think the list needed to have a little more depth to it.
